Hotel Vergina

For the price, this is a decent, cheap hotel and a good value for what you get. The staff were professional and welcoming, and there’s a nice bed, mini fridge, air conditioning, and it was clean. The bathrooms are a bit odd, as other guests have mentioned, so keep expectations reasonable. It’s central and handy for transport: right across from the train station, about 10 minutes from the bus station and ferry terminal, and a block from the local airport bus.

We enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious and clean, the WiFi was excellent, and the staff were polite. It’s near the port, about a five-minute walk, and right by the town center, yet there was no noise at all. We picked this hotel because it allows late check-in until midnight, and although we arrived late at night, the host welcomed us warmly. Great value for money, highly recommended.

The general attitude was lousy, and I felt like a burden to the staff instead of a welcomed guest. There was basically no service, and the shower was tiny. You have to fold yourself up to use the toilet. I’d rather pay 10 euro more for somewhere good. P.S. The owner himself showed me the ashtray, so that’s not what I’m complaining about.

Watch out for the hotel owner. We paid cash as requested when we arrived, but when we came back late that night, we found out our room had been double-booked. The owner wouldn’t refund us until the police got involved. I’d avoid this place so you don’t get caught up in what felt like a deceitful situation.
