We couldn’t stay the full week and left to book somewhere else online. We didn’t get back the money we’d paid for our week at Lofos. Traveling with kids, this was perhaps the poorest accommodation I’ve ever seen. Even my son asked if we could leave. Clearly not 3 stars, maybe 1, if even that. The beds were as hard as sleeping on a stone floor, the hardest my family had ever experienced. Even the kids couldn’t fall asleep, and noise from the bar next door went on through the night. There were broken electrical supplies, see photos. The “kitchen” had no chairs, so you had to sit on the beds to eat. There was just one drawer, containing a few dirty, unwashed supplies, see photo.

From here, I could meet friends each morning at Beachaway Fresh Bites, just a five-minute walk from Alykes high street and the beach. The spot is central enough on the island for exploring, and without the plane noise that was obvious in kalamaki. It was also secluded enough for the quiet, relaxing break I wanted, reading by a good-sized, crystal-clear pool. Bar service was good, and Anastasia and her son were very friendly. The beds were comfortable, even for a big bloke like me, and the air conditioning was decent. There’s a good-sized fridge for food and drinks if you want one, though with so much food choice around, I’m not sure why you’d cook.

We’ll definitely come back to Lofos Studios when we return to Zakynthos. The rooms were clean, the hosts fantastic and the coffee good. It’s close to the beach and amenities, yet in a quiet spot 😊
