Ikaros Apartments

The area isn’t the most attractive, and the nearby power plant’s ugly chimneys take away from the beach holiday feel. Thankfully, we couldn’t see them from our rooms. Still, as a base for sleeping and eating while exploring, this was a perfect choice, with ample free parking. I also don’t understand why it’s rated as a 1-star hotel. They should sort that out urgently 😂 We booked two suites for four nights because the renovated rooms looked beautiful and spacious, and the restaurant sounded incredible. The rooms really were perfect. Breakfast was great, and the restaurant served the best food I had during our whole stay. We used the hotel as a starting point for Knossos, a Catamaran to Dia, and a day at Aqua Plus, and I wasn’t disappointed. A few things could be better: breakfast starts at 08:30, but most activities begin earlier, and there wasn’t a daily bottle of water like we’d received at other hotels. The always-present Pater familias was friendly and welcoming, though I can imagine not everyone would enjoy being watched so closely. I also saw non-guests using the pool, as some negative reviews mentioned.

The pool has a fantastic view, and the rooms are very stylish. The main drawback was noise from other guests’ doors closing, since the rooms could be quieter. If you’re sensitive to that, earplugs might help. I’ve taken off one star, though the stay was otherwise great.

The attached restaurant was packed every night, even this late in the season, and the food was amazing. We also got a reduced rate on a car through The Hubs Rental Cars because we were staying at the Hotel, and both the car and the service were excellent. It’s family-run, with helpful, friendly staff who were always happy to assist. Thankyou Ikaros Suites for making our stay in Crete so memorable. Everything about the stay was brilliant.

After being let down by another place, arriving here felt like finding paradise. The family running the business were all welcoming and very nice. Our clean room had everything we needed and a wonderful sea view. The pool was clean and great, and we really enjoyed the food and drinks. Breakfast was delicious and good value too. The beach is close, and we liked that it wasn’t as crowded as the center. I’d recommend this hotel to anyone wanting some peace and quiet with a lovely family.
