Vorina Ktismata

The breakfast was so good that I actually looked forward to it, even though I usually don’t eat breakfast. There were hand-picked capers, homemade jams, great yogurt, local cheeses, fresh-squeezed juice, and more. Nikos and Alexia and the other staff make you feel like family from the moment you book, and their hospitality goes above and beyond. I met with them each morning and evening to plan my day, and every suggestion was a hit, from food and beaches to massage and running paths. They took what I wanted and the weather into account when making recommendations. The location is perfect, a few minutes’ walk from Chora, with easy parking. The setting is clean and beautiful. Vorina Ktismata has become one of my favorite places to stay in Greece. They truly love what they do, and it shows. Highly recommend!

The village is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen, and Vorina Ktismata is absolutely the place to stay when you visit Amorgos. Nikos and Alexia welcome you like family and keep their lovely place in excellent condition. Nikos is a perfectionist, and you can tell how much care they put into it. He makes the best eggs, while Alexia is the queen of homemade cakes. I can’t imagine anyone doing better.

Vorina Ktismata’s real strength is the warm hospitality from owners Nikos and Alexia. They’re natural hosts who anticipate what guests need, from transport arrangements and sightseeing ideas to recommendations for authentic dining. Breakfast is fresh and varied, served smoothly on a sunny shared terrace where guests naturally get chatting. I’ve visited more than a dozen Greek islands over the past forty years, sailed the islands twice with my husband on privately chartered yachts, and worked as a hotel inspector for a major travel magazine. From that perspective, I wholeheartedly recommend Amorgos and Vorina Ktismata for luxury accommodation. The seven suites make the most of the setting, with generous terraces and stunning views of the sea and/or Chora. The rooms have Coco-Mat bedding, colorful shuttered windows, modern bathrooms, excellent connectivity, and plenty of storage. They’re wonderfully quiet and comfortable. The location is perfect, within walking distance of the windmills and old town of Chora. Chora is centrally located on Amorgos, making it easy to drive or hike to some of the island’s best beaches, sights, and authentic towns. Amorgos reminds me of the unspoiled Greek islands of thirty years ago. Staying at Vorina Ktismata will enrich your experience of the island many times over.

We loved it. The whole hotel is beautifully designed and spotlessly clean, and the breakfasts are amazing, home-cooked and served by the delightful Maria. Nikos and Alexia treat you as warmly as if you were their very first guests. Vorina Ktismata feels like a place to restore your soul: take the 30-minute walk to the monastery at sunrise and you’ll probably have it to yourself, watch the jaw-dropping sunsets from your balcony, or stroll into the chora for delicious local food.
