The friendly staff and the atmosphere they create are what make Aelia special. The pool is nice, and the apartment had enough room for two adults and two children. You can rent AC for 2 euros a day. Food was okay, though not the best, and we wished there were more plates, glasses, and kitchen equipment. It’s a 10-15 minute walk down to the beach, restaurants, and supermarkets, but it gets very warm in the daytime. Two sunbeds at the beach cost 6 euros. The sandy beach is nice, though there are rocks not far out, so you need to watch your step or climb over them. That also makes snorkeling fun. You can rent quads on the way down for 40 Euros. We found it worth it: we drove to the beach and followed the road right until it started going uphill, then turned left at the top to find beautiful beaches with better protection from wind and waves. The first two days were great, with hardly anyone at the pool. After more guests arrived, some were very loud late in the evening and at night. The pool never closes, and noise from people using it sometimes made it hard to get our children to bed or get a good night’s sleep.

A good price for a calm, sunny break. The town is tiny, with only a few tourist restaurants, and the place itself feels small, cozy, and not too busy. It’s about 10 minutes from the beach, and George and his family are wonderful hosts. Two suggestions for the owner: add more umbrellas by the pool, since the summer sun can be intense, and include air conditioning in the booking price. Everyone uses it anyway.

They start cleaning outside before 7 in the morning, which wakes people up, and the pool area was the one nice thing about the hotel. During our stay it was almost full. Most guests brought drinks, snacks, and food from their rooms to the pool, and that seemed fine. But when my wife and I gave our children, aged 1.5 and 4.5, a drink or snack there, the “bartender” told us to go back to our room if we wanted to eat anything from it. On the second day, the cleaning lady and another staff member seemed to accuse us of a sofa bed cover being missing. I think someone had removed it while setting up our room. For these reasons, I wouldn’t recommend the hotel.

The people were so caring and welcoming, and the service was good. The apartments were nice, the food was good, and the surroundings were beautiful. The beach was lovely and not too crowded. I’d recommend this place if you’re going to Crete. It was the best vacation I’ve ever had!

I love Aelia apartment! The food is nice and the cocktails are really tasty. The chef is an amazing woman! I hope it’s not fully booked every time, because I want to spend my holidays at this best hotel every year 😉☺️😉
