Byzantino

The lobby, bar and restaurant looked nice when we arrived, much like the photos. The room was another story: the AC took about three hours to cool it down and barely worked when the hotel was full. Sound insulation was poor, there were cables sticking out of some walls, and the pool area was dirty, neglected and even dangerous. Reception said the pool was closed, but there was no sign and anyone could get in. We got no greeting from reception coming or going unless we looked extremely well dressed. The room information listed dry cleaning, but the hotel no longer offers it. We needed a dress cleaned for a baptism, and staff said they used to provide the service. The food was very mediocre, though breakfast was OK. The carpaccio arrived half frozen, and the à la carte staff seemed bored and unprofessional. When we complained, we got smiles and no response. Can’t recommend it.

Parts of the hotel still feel like a four-star place, including the main sitting room, kindergarten, amenities like shampoo and a hairdryer, and the very kind staff. Maybe 15 years ago it was five stars. Other areas need renovation, especially the elevators and the carpets in the rooms.

The hotel sits a couple of miles outside town, right by the main road in, but it’s much quieter there and has plenty of free parking. My room was spacious and fresh, with a large comfortable bed, and it was very clean. Every staff member I met was friendly and helpful, from reception and housekeeping to dinner and breakfast service. English is spoken, and both the menu and the welcome packet are in English. I really enjoyed my stay. It’s a very nice hotel, and I’d highly recommend it. Thanks, Rick. Jan 9th, 2024

The room was mediocre at best, and the food was poor for the price. We also requested dry cleaning because it was listed among the services on the information sheet in each room. They told us it was no longer available, explaining that they used to offer it. The pool area was unsafe to walk around, with holes in the ground and no signs about any work to fix them. Two stray dogs were sitting on large cushions there, and the loungers were dirty, with some broken. The photos speak for themselves. Maybe this was a four-star hotel in the past, but it no longer meets that standard.
