The Alassia Hotel

The breakfast was fabulous and served until 10:30, and check-out was at 12. The rooms could use balconies, and it would be nice if the hotel added facilities, especially a swimming pool. The design is exceptional, with comfortable modern rooms, quality furniture, and all the accompanying devices and details. I’d put it in the 4+ star category. One elevator was malfunctioning. Its door couldn’t be opened or closed, which upset and inconvenienced guests. I think it should have been taken out of service, with a notice saying it was out of use.

I had to cancel at the last minute because of personal issues, but the staff were very friendly and let me cancel without charging me anything. That kind of treatment is rare these days, so I’m giving them five stars.

For six nights with breakfast, I paid less than the cost of one night at other places I’ve stayed. For the price, the value was 10/10. I’ve stayed in hotels around the world, and in 2026 I didn’t expect to find this kind of quality so cheaply. Athens is dirty, with graffiti and homeless people, and this neighborhood is like that too. It didn’t bother me. The metro is beside the hotel, and there’s also a bus stop for bus tours. You can hear street noise and sounds from the corridor outside the room. If you want a quiet, cosy stay, look elsewhere. For me it was okay, especially for what I paid.

The room smells bad, and the cleaners reused the dirty towels and sheets instead of bringing clean ones. They only switched the sheets between the beds, so I ended up with my roommate’s and she got mine.
