Athens Choice

The friendly staff were the one part of my stay I really liked. The complimentary breakfast runs from 7 to 10 am and is basic, though not a bad meal for the price. The train station is close, but I felt the neighborhood was unsafe, especially for anyone traveling alone, and wouldn't advise being out late. My room was clean, but much too small for two. The bathroom was the bigger problem: no shower curtain, a cramped shower where my elbows kept hitting the walls, no exhaust fan, and a toilet that wouldn't flush properly. After each shower, the room was a mess. The building front and lobby looked impressive, but choosing Athens Choice based on its good reviews left me disappointed. I won't return or recommend it.

The room and location were both fine, and I found the hotel adequate. I don't agree with the harsher reviews. Breakfast was the one issue, since it was the same every day.

Kind, welcoming staff were one of the best parts of our stay. The location was handy, near hop-on hop-off bus stops and lots of good places to eat. It's a budget option for a short visit if the basics are enough, but the breakfast wasn't as good as other reviews suggested: it arrived cold, and the boiled eggs looked like they were from the day before. We got food in the square instead. Don't expect a full three-star experience if comfort matters.

The room had a door straight into the garden, which was amazing. The hotel is downtown and close to the train and bus stations. People at the front desk and serving breakfast were kind. I'd come back.
