Athos

The location is a real plus, and the hotel was clean, but the rooms need renovation. Some walls are damaged, the old door handles look straight out of the 80s, and exposed electrical sockets need repair. The bathroom had been renovated but was dirty and had mold. The mini bar didn't work, and staff refused to fix it, saying it wasn't meant to be cold. The mattress was thin and hard, and there were no window screens, so with the windows left open during cleaning, the room ended up with lots of mosquitos. The AC also didn't work. They offered a fan, then later said previous guests had switched on sleep mode.

Friendly, polite staff and a handy spot for walking to the shopping areas and Monastiraki made the stay welcoming and easy. My main concern was the value for the price, especially after seeing nearby hotels with rooftop amenities at similar rates. The breakfast cost extra and had few choices, and the WiFi was unreliable enough that I sometimes had to use mobile data. The room itself was clean and spacious, though I could sometimes hear toilets flushing next door. The mini fridge barely worked and seemed more like a microwave. The building feels old, which may explain the very small elevator, but it was still awkward to use. We also had to leave our room key at reception whenever we went out, a policy that felt outdated. The stay was acceptable, but I’d consider other places next time.

We loved staying here and would definitely come back. The service was outstanding, and the hotel is close to shops and most of the sights. From the rooftop, the Parthenon is clearly visible.

The staff were welcoming and easy to ask for help. They sorted out my inquiry quickly. The location is great too, with a lovely plaza and an excellent bakery just around the corner. It’s affordable, and I’d stay here again.
