Brown Acropol Hotel

The staff were wonderful, and the amenities are modern and updated. They’ve carried the theme through the whole hotel, right down to a disco ball on our floor, and there was so much attention to detail in the room. It gave me a glimpse of what Athens was like in the 70s, and I wish I could’ve experienced that time for myself. The neighborhood felt a little dicey, but with 24-hour security I felt very safe. You can see the acropolis from the rooftop restaurant, and the breakfast was the best I’ve had in a while.

The hotel is comfortable and clean, with nice rooms and easy access to shops, restaurants, and public or tourist transport. There are also good bakeries nearby with great coffee. I loved the extra door inside our bedroom that blocked noise from the front door. The staff were nice, especially at the front desk and on the rooftop bar and restaurant. As a music lover, I enjoyed the quirky retro feel, with its 1960s and 1970s style. The beds were extremely comfy. I booked partly for the Acropolis view, but while eating there seems to be only one rooftop table with a good view. The sun loungers face away from it, so you can’t really see it from there. I think that side area could be redesigned to make better use of the view. The small hot tubs only fit two people at a time, which feels a bit too close if you’re sharing with a stranger. In warm weather, I’d prefer a rooftop pool for a cool dip. Also, watch out for cars. They’ll run you over even on a pedestrian walkway or at a green crossing.

The weekday traffic noise was a serious problem in my room, which faced the road. Apart from that, it’s a good hotel on Omonia Square, with a decent location near the metro and not too far to walk to the central sights. The rooftop restaurant and bar with hot tubs were nice, and there was a good breakfast selection.

The bar was a highlight, especially thanks to bartender Panos, who was incredibly friendly and professional and always had good recommendations. Service throughout the hotel was consistently attentive and friendly, and the place was stylish and clean. Many of Athens’ main sights are an easy walk away, and with the metro right outside, it’s simple to get around the city. I had a very pleasant stay at the Brown Acropol and would definitely return.
