The receptionists were lovely and went out of their way to share useful local tips. I was travelling solo and felt at ease in the safe neighbourhood. The hotel is a short walk from the main sights and very close to a metro station. My room was modern, fully equipped and, above all, very clean. One tip, booking on the hotel’s own website is much cheaper than using other booking sites.

This was too much hassle for me, and I wouldn’t return. I didn’t feel the electricity problems were taken seriously, and I wasn’t compensated for the disruption. On the first night, the power went out around 11pm or midnight. There was nobody at the desk after 10pm, so I reported it the next morning. They sent someone to repair it, but it went out again when I plugged in my phone. I was told not to plug anything into the room until they worked out what was wrong, so on the second night I had to sit at the front desk after 10pm to charge my phone. On the third night I went there again, and realized I’d accidentally locked the only key card in my room. With no one at reception overnight, I couldn’t get help at first. Luckily I reached the hotel manager by phone. He initially asked me to check the basement for another key card, but there wasn’t one. He then came over, about 20-25 minutes away, and had me try another outlet in the room. That one worked, so I could charge my phone in the room for the rest of my stay. There were some good points: the rooms were clean and attractive, the staff were friendly and keen to give advice on getting around Athens and finding food. The location is fairly central, with plenty of nearby food and drink, including a cafe/bar next door and good restaurants across the street. The big drawback is the noise. Nearby bars and restaurants stay lively until about 2:30am, so it’s not a good fit for light sleepers. There’s also no one at the front desk between 10pm and around 8 or 9am.

The room was quite small, especially the shower, but it was clean, and we knew this wasn’t a five-star place. Noise from the restaurants might bother some guests, though it didn’t bother us. What a spot, right in the middle of town, surrounded by loads of restaurants and bars. It’s under a five-minute walk to the main Metro station, Psiri square and the markets.

We picked this hotel for the location, but it wasn’t somewhere we could get a proper night’s rest. Our loft room was right by the entrance, so we heard the receptionist talking with guests and people banging the entrance door. It was hot too, since the air conditioning only worked on the second level. The stairs up there didn’t feel very safe, so you have to be careful going up and down. The room didn’t have a hair dryer or iron, and you have to ask for them. It also wasn’t very clean: there were spider webs in the corners and dust on the floor. The mattress was so hard it felt like sleeping on the floor. For what they charge, I think there are plenty of better places to stay in Athens.

We came for a mini honeymoon and the staff welcomed us so warmly. They were generous, kind and always ready to help. They even let us check out late since they were able to. Beit Chabad is right below the hotel, and there’s also one of the best spots for coffee and breakfast nearby. Really recommended. I’ll definitely come back.
