Hapimag Resort Athens

The rooms weren’t cleaned daily. Mine wasn’t cleaned at all during my stay, and we were given just one set of towels with no fresh ones afterward. The air conditioners didn’t work properly: they couldn’t cool below 23 degrees or be set above 23, so they had to run loudly all day and night. Reception was only open four hours a day, and on arrival you may find yourself locked outside, hoping they sent the magic entrance code or someone inside takes pity on you. If you want even the basics, reception, a clean room and fresh towels, stay somewhere else. I’d never come back.

The location was excellent. Plaka is a very short walk away, with plenty of places for food and shopping, and Syntagma Square, the Acropolis and other attractions are also within walking distance. It was very hot when we visited, so we took a taxi to the Acropolis, then walked back and enjoyed seeing some nice neighborhoods along the way. There’s roof access with an Acropolis view, and having coffee up there one evening was relaxing. We’re a family of four with a 14-year-old and a 12-year-old. The ground-floor room was just right for us and had two levels, with the second room and bathroom downstairs via a spiral staircase. That lower room worked perfectly for the kids, though my wife would have preferred us to use it. We had no trouble on the stairs, but I wouldn’t recommend them for anyone with knee problems. The small kitchen and dining area had a stove and everything needed to cook, plus plates, glasses, cups, cutlery and a coffee maker, which I loved as a coffee drinker. It was an eco-friendly hotel, and I was surprised to learn the tap water was drinkable. I was hesitant at first, but we were fine, including me with my sensitive stomach, and it saved us money on bottled water. They also had an iron and board in a closet accessible with the room key. The staff welcomed us warmly and were very accommodating. The hotel photos matched what we found, which was probably a first for me. I didn’t give five stars because nothing is perfect and there’s room to improve. The only thing I can think of is that breakfast isn’t served in house, though that’s a very minor issue. You can order breakfast for delivery to the room, and Plaka has plenty of restaurants. It was a wonderful stay!

The balcony had an amazing view. Right in the heart of plaka, with easy connections for getting around. Extremely clean and quiet.

I’ve enjoyed staying with Hapimag since I was a child, and this was another really nice visit. Our room was very clean, had everything we needed, and came with a balcony and the most perfect view. The women at reception were kind and really helpful. The location worked so well that we did all our sightseeing, grocery shopping, shopping and dinners on foot, without using transport. The air conditioning also worked really well, which mattered with 35 degrees Celsius outside. If I visit Athens again, I’ll definitely stay here.
