A decent hotel, but it feels claustrophobic. The lift only fits one slim person without luggage, and the shower is incredibly tiny, more like one for a child.

It's a good choice if you're mainly looking for a place to rest and sleep, and I'd definitely recommend it. The room was very clean and cozy, with nice, simple decor. It was a bit noisy from the elevator and other guests.

Hotel Socrates was a good fit for a practical, affordable stop in Athens, and it was quiet during our one-night stay before heading to Meteora. It's an old hotel, but clean, with a fairly spacious room and a nice balcony view. The location was especially handy, near the metro, a large supermarket, and several restaurants.

We liked pretty much everything about the hotel, especially its location. There were four of us with eight bags, and we relied on public transport, so being close to the station was very convenient. We were also heading from Larissa station in Athens to Thessaloniki, which made the location ideal. We booked through agoda and only had to give our names and passports at reception. The receptionist spoke English, so check-in was easy. Our room had two connected rooms with four single beds, which gave us nice privacy. The one issue was a clogged toilet floor drain, but we were okay with it for our two-night stay.
