Juan Rodriguez Hacienda

Once inside, it’s quiet and feels tucked away from the bustle, even though Juan Rodriguez Hacienda is right in central Athens with restaurants, bars, shops and major sights only steps away. The elegant decor has distinctive vintage touches, and my room was beautifully styled and spotless. The warm, personal service really stood out, professional, helpful and genuinely kind. A stylish, comfortable boutique hotel with a hard-to-beat location. I loved my stay and highly recommend it.

The Hacienda-inspired decor is distinctive and stylish, and the service was great. They really try to make you comfortable and relaxed. The rooftop bar is outstanding, a lovely breakfast spot too, and the breakfast was fresh and delicious. The location is lively, vibrant and noisy. If I were 10 or 20 years younger, I’d give the location five stars. The room felt a little damp as well. Still, this is a unique boutique hotel in the heart of Athens, and I’d stay here again if I come back.

We felt at home here, and the staff were exceptional. The huge bed was heavenly, and we had two excellent nights of sleep. The air conditioning was quiet, easy to use and kept the room at a lovely temperature. We could have breakfast on the rooftop or our bedroom balcony, and loved both options. The rooftop bar had lovely views and a soft breeze, plus excellent service and margaritas. The building is only a couple of minutes from the outdoor restaurants and bars, a trendy, fun area to wander around at night. There’s also a nightclub downstairs, and we’d have a nightcap on the street chairs, watching the young, trendy crowd being checked before going in. Our second-floor suite was a delight, with a little Romeo and Juliet balcony looking over the narrow street and pretty church across from us. The unusual, luxurious four-bedroom suites are in a perfect spot in central Athens, in Minasteriki. The building itself is a marvel, packed with color and interesting details: gold-leaf paintings, decorated cornices and ceilings, chandeliers and velvet curtains. It felt like living like royalty. I definitely recommend it for the comfort, personal attention, decor and location. Loved it.

The room breakfast was very good, and having it on the balcony is a lovely way to start the day. Christina at the front desk was super friendly and accommodating. The suite was beautifully decorated, in this one-year-old hotel in an eclectic part of town, and it’s close to plenty of restaurants and the Acropolis. We stayed three nights. The location in Plaka is brilliant, five minutes from the train station and 40 minutes from the airport. The nightclub next door can make things thump a bit, but it was bearable. Athens is easy to get around on foot, with excellent restaurants and no need to reserve.
