Margarita'S Suites

They cancelled my booking for no reason, just weeks before the trip, even though I’d reserved it four months earlier. I’d avoid booking here, since it seems they might cancel at any time. Really bad.

The staff were wonderful. They were kind and helpful, and even stored my luggage for free after check-out. I slept well in the comfortable bed, and appreciated the clean room, kitchenette, and the building’s beautiful, well-kept interior. There were lots of useful amenities, existing streaming accounts on the smart TV, and a built-in mosquito net on the window, so I didn’t see any bugs. Grocery shops and places to eat are nearby. The historic center is about a 15-20 minute walk, with bus and metro stops close by. The bus to Poseidon temple leaves right next to the apartment. The neighborhood didn’t feel very safe, so I’d be careful alone late at night. There was street noise, and the AC was extremely loud. I had to sleep with the window open, which was okay for now, though I’m not sure how that would feel in hotter weather.

The owner of Margarita’s Suites helped us through a terrible situation, and I’m deeply grateful. On our first day in Athens, our bag was stolen at a restaurant with all our money, passports, and bank cards inside. The police offered almost no help. We’re Chinese students studying in Germany, and when he learned we had no money left, he let us stay for free and kept supporting us until we received new passports. He helped translate everything, printed embassy documents late at night without hesitation, and patiently guided us through the whole process. He was warm, generous, and trustworthy, and we became friends. I hope he can visit China someday. I’d be honored to host him as a small way of returning his kindness. The hotel is comfortable and feels secure, with fast, stable Wi-Fi, solid locks, and cameras throughout the building. It’s also in a very convenient location. I recommend Margarita’s Suites for both the stay and the caring, responsible person behind it.

These are apartments rather than hotels, right in central Athens, but the area isn’t especially tidy and there’s an unpleasant smell, possibly from a sewage problem. The streets have a lot of homeless people and drug addiction, like the Pigalle area in France. Service was average. I wouldn’t recommend it for a family with a child.
