My Greek Vacations City Apartments

We didn't check as carefully as usual because the place looked clean enough, and then we got absolutely eaten alive by bed bugs. Turning over the mattress, we found several. Management responded in the morning and refunded us, but we had to find another place to stay ourselves. Please check the room closely. On the plus side, there's a nice gym, the room is otherwise decently equipped, and the building has a small elevator for luggage.

It's a safe enough neighborhood, so don't let the graffiti everywhere put you off. There are lots of cafes, bars, and places to eat nearby, and Panepatisimo metro station is a seven-minute walk away. Lycabettus hill is beautiful and within walking distance, then it's a 15-minute hike to the top for stunning views of Athens and the Acropolis. The apartment block is cute, and the apartment itself is clean and spacious, with a good layout, quality furnishings, a small kitchen, seating area, and some toiletries. Evans was very attentive.

The apartment had plenty of equipment, but visible mold on every window and parts of the wall was a serious problem. We arrived at 8 p.m. and couldn't get another room. The landlord called it “just a stain” and said it would be cleaned in the morning, but we didn't consider that acceptable or safe, especially with children. We shouldn't have been expected to sleep there. The alternative they offered was a 20-minute taxi ride away, far too inconvenient at 9 p.m. with kids. The host offered to pay for the taxi, but that didn't address the main issue. We booked this aparthotel because of its high ratings and good location, and what we found felt deceptive. We ended up booking somewhere else ourselves. The refund wasn't processed right away because the landlord asked us to cancel, which the platform wouldn't let us do.

The room was nice and secure, with a code needed to enter the building. Evans was quick to respond and helpful with all my questions. The gym was perfect, and laundry was free, though the dryer took a while. It's about a 10-minute walk to the city center. I felt safe, but as a woman traveling alone, I'd still be cautious coming back at night.
