The Newel Psychiko

We paid extra for a room advertised with a Jacuzzi, but the tub couldn’t be used at all. It had no jets or bubbles. Each day we asked the staff for help and heard that the technician was on holiday, with nobody available to fix it. We kept asking to speak to the manager, but he never came or replied. They offered no solution or compensation, so we paid more for a feature that wasn’t there. A very disappointing stay, and not what we expected from a hotel that presents itself as high quality.

The building looks new, though I think it was built around the 60ies and only renovated. They don’t answer the phone, and I couldn’t find anyone to contact. The location claim is a lie: this isn’t Psychiko, it’s actually Abelokipi, and the metro station is a 20-minute walk away. Fake 5 star Hotel.

I chose the hotel’s website because the room included a Jacuzzi, and paid twice the rate of a normal room for it. When we arrived, it was completely unusable, with no bubbles or jets. We raised it at reception every day, but were told the maintenance technician was on vacation and no one could repair it. We asked several times to speak with the manager and were told he’d get back to us. He never did, and we weren’t offered any fix or compensation. Very disappointing.

Our room was lovely, beautiful, and came with our own jacuzzi. We were kindly upgraded when we arrived. Breakfast was included, with a good variety of food, and having a subway station nearby made getting around and seeing different parts of Athens easy. We had a great stay and would choose this hotel again if I return to Athens.
