Around 6:15 in the morning, the fire alarm went off and kept going until about 6:35. As guests were heading outside, I messaged the hotel about it, and they asked me to tell the other guests what to do and not do. That was odd, but okay. Later they said the elevator's electricity supply had caused the alarm. They also mentioned that room electricity might have problems and to let them know if it did. The doors use code locks rather than keys or cards, so I wondered whether a power issue could stop them opening or closing. I had to leave for the airport at 4 a.m. the next day and didn’t want to risk getting locked in. When I asked if the locks could be affected by the electricity, the hotel said they didn’t know and couldn’t know. They kept saying they could check whether the lock worked at that moment by opening and closing the door, but that was all. I found it unprofessional that they didn’t understand such basic things about the building, including what would happen if it lost power and whether guests could get in or out.

Don’t stay here. The bar opposite is playing music so loudly at 3 a.m. that it’s awful. The door doesn’t block the sound, and the hotel doesn’t leave earplugs. I brought some, but I can still feel the horrible bass. Avoid this place.

The room was spacious and clean, and I thought it was good value for the price. The neighborhood felt a bit rough around the edges and not very safe to me. Nothing actually happened during my stay, but I found myself staying alert and watching my surroundings.

I stayed two nights in October and was able to check in early because my room was ready. They explained that early check-in isn’t always available, so after a long flight I was really grateful. The staff were friendly and welcoming. I had the double room with terrace. The room itself was small, but the large balcony made it work for me as a solo traveler. Couples may want to choose one of the larger room options. The hotel was modern and clean. It’s easy to get around from the neighborhood, with lots of good food and coffee nearby. There are a few bars outside, and I’d read about possible night noise before booking. I stayed Wednesday and Thursday while the bars were open, but it didn’t bother me. My room was well sound insulated. A capital city will always have some noise, but I wouldn’t call this a noisy hotel. I’d recommend it and stay again.
