Casa di Gouto

Casa di Gouto will be our choice again when we return to Crete. The place is charming, with two bedrooms, two balconies with a view, a washer, and a kitchenette. We couldn't have asked for more, and its location near the old town, restaurants, and shops was just right. The Saturday Farmers Market was a block away and well worth seeing. We loved the neighborhood and felt we got the full Greek experience. Crete Wise, especially Stavros, made the stay even better. They got in touch days ahead with electronic guides to excursions and things to do around Crete. They also helped sort out a rental car mistake we'd made with another company and arranged my hike through Samaria Gorge, which you shouldn't miss. When the market closed the road, they sent us a map of nearby parking spots. Stavros met us on arrival and explained everything we needed for an easy stay. I can't recommend the hosts and accommodation enough.

We stayed in July 2024, and the apartment was just right for our family's time in Chania. Everything was within walking distance, and the staff were very helpful. The apartment had all the equipment we needed, and the terrace and rooftop were a nice bonus.

The location is great, the apartment is modern, and we got a friendly welcome. But it's all much too small. I wouldn't recommend a long stay for more than two people. There's practically no living room, just a tiny kitchen with a sofa, so forget about cooking. The closets barely fit our clothes, and the internet is very slow. It doesn't feel cozy, and amenities are missing. Sitting on the sofa, the trash bin is right by my hand, and the table can't really be used by three people. For what we paid, it wasn't worth it. The hot water pot hadn't been cleaned, and they asked me to clean it, which isn't my job. Maybe it works for a short stay with up to three people, or a longer stay for two if the second bedroom can be used for clothes and personal things.
