Hotel Danaos

The exit goes straight to the beach, and the location is amazing. The staff were so friendly and cleaned our room really well, even folding our pajamas 🥹. I’d definitely recommend this hotel and would come back :)

We didn’t stay at the hotel itself. We left our bags there through Bounce early in the morning after arriving on the overnight ferry from Athens, then went to enjoy the beach, sun, and warm water. Sue at the front desk was the real star. She was incredibly accommodating, friendly, and helpful even though we weren’t hotel guests. We appreciated both the hotel and Sue, who gave our stay in Crete a great start.

This is more of a guesthouse than a hotel, but the location is handy, right in front of the beach. You can walk to the old town in about twenty minutes. The room was basic, with old furnishings and foam mattresses that weren’t very comfortable, though it was clean, especially by Greek standards. If you’re after convenience rather than luxury and don’t need anything fancy, it’s a good choice.

We liked it enough to come back for our last two nights before leaving Crete. The balcony looked out over the lovely beach, and the location suited us perfectly. There are some fabulous restaurants nearby, especially Kous Kous and Manos, and Woodstock is good for breakfast. Everyone was very friendly. I’d recommend the rooms with the Seaview.
