We came from Boston to Crete hoping for a relaxing break, but the stay at Elia Sea Suites turned into a string of disappointments. I'd tell others not to stay here. The room cost extra because it had an outdoor private hot tub, one of the main reasons we booked. It wasn't warm when we arrived and took more than 8 hours to heat. Later the water turned very murky, dark, and dirty. We told management, but it took over a day to deal with it. After servicing, they left it switched off again, so it needed many hours to heat once more. We paid a premium and went without a properly working hot tub for four of our six nights. There was also construction right next door, with loud noise starting around 7:00 AM each morning. Nobody told us before arrival or at check-in. We would've chosen somewhere else if we'd known. Housekeeping was hit and miss too: used towels were taken without replacements on several occasions, dirty towels were left, and the bed linens weren't changed. Both my partner and I also woke up with lots of unexplained bug bites after sleeping in the bed. The response from management was the most frustrating part. I spent weeks trying to sort things out directly with the hotel after we got home. Replies were slow and often came only after repeated follow-ups, making the whole process difficult. First they offered 20% off a future stay in Chania. I explained that I live in the United States and had no plans to return, so they changed the offer to a €165 refund, about 10% of our reservation. That was less than one night's stay and didn't even cover the extra cost of the hot tub room, despite one of the main paid amenities being unusable for most of the trip. When I politely explained why that wasn't enough, management stopped responding. Things can go wrong at a hotel. How they're handled matters. With the undisclosed construction, hot tub problems, housekeeping issues, slow replies, inadequate compensation, and then no communication, we left feeling guest satisfaction mattered much less than collecting payment.

The balcony was a lovely place to take in the Aegean Sea, with calm water and blue stretching to the horizon. That quiet feeling stayed with me throughout the visit. The seaside setting also made it easy to explore Chania while still having somewhere peaceful to come back to. Breakfast was fresh and had a good mix of local dishes and familiar options, including fruit, pastries, cheeses, and hot food. My room felt spacious and comfortable, with modern, elegant decor, soft colors, clean lines, and quality furnishings. The jacuzzi beside the balcony was a special touch, luxurious without feeling overdone. I could relax there with the balcony door open to the light and sea breeze. From the moment I arrived, the staff were warm, friendly, and attentive. It was a wonderful stay, and I'd happily come back and recommend it to anyone visiting Chania.

The apartments are surrounded by major construction work right now, and the noise means you can forget about sleeping in. At €300 a night, that's completely unacceptable, especially since Elia sea suites made no effort to warn us beforehand. We still have another 4 days here as I write this. The photos show the view from our suite and the surrounding area. The staff are helpful and friendly, and the room is spacious, well equipped, and has a great view. It leans more toward style than practicality, though, with not a single drawer or door knob.

The pool is pleasant, though it could feel crowded in peak season since there aren't many sunbeds. The hotel is meant to be Adults only, but there was a child during our stay. The receptionist said this hadn't been planned, and a child at the pool wasn't ideal when we wanted a quiet rest. The rooms are very comfortable with a beautiful sea view. Reception was friendly and helpful, whether on site or by phone. Breakfast was excellent, with a varied selection of homemade dishes.

We stayed in a junior suite with a hot tub right at the shore's edge, where waves crashed below. Falling asleep to that sound and waking to surreal sunrises made it feel like a five-star stay. The room was impeccably clean, with soft bedding and everything we needed to be comfortable. Staff were warm, friendly, and very accommodating, and breakfast had a great range. It's in a quiet neighborhood, yet only a 10-minute walk from the main part of town.
