Ellinis Hotel

The room was neat and clean, and they replaced our towels every day. It's an easy walk to both the city center and the old Venetian port. I'd have rated the stay higher if there hadn't been a misunderstanding about the cost.

Our balcony had an amazing view, and the room was just right and quite clean. The hotel is peaceful despite being in the center, only a short walk from town, and it has underground parking. The managers were welcoming and helpful. There's also a kiosk across the street. I'd definitely recommend it.

Once we spoke briefly with the manager, the problems in our room were sorted right away. They take guest satisfaction seriously. Breakfast is served on the fifth floor, where they set up a table for you. There was ham and cheese toasties, a boiled egg, biscuits, croissants, coffee, and more, with a gorgeous view over the city. Check-in was less pleasant: the person who greeted us after our booking through booking dot com seemed annoyed, as if we'd disturbed him. We did get checked in, and the room numbers and other displays in the elevator were stylish electronic ones.

We were in one of the recently renovated rooms, and it felt closer to four-star than two-star. The free underground parking was roomy and convenient. The hotel is set back from the waterfront, but it's a short walk to the harbor and handy for the main tourist spots. Being able to drive and park easily made that walk worthwhile. The shower was impressive, with a tall rain head, three side jets, and a hand shower, though the rain head was already clogging and may be too much for the local water pressure. The doors mostly sealed but were coming off their tracks. At check-in we struggled to communicate, and they wouldn't give us a second key so we could come and go separately. They did give us an old key that didn't work for the door but let the AC stay on while we were out. Later we learned guests are meant to leave their room key at reception whenever they go out, which would have made a second key unnecessary.
