Porto Antico Superior Apartments

The hotel cancelled our booking at the last minute, saying they were overbooked, even though we'd booked nearly two months ahead. In the end, we're glad it happened. It's right on the harbor, but the crowds, noise and cigarette smoke from visitors below would have been too much for us. We found a waterfront place about 1000m away that was quieter, far less crowded, less expensive, and had an oceanfront balcony.

We stayed one night before our return flight. Check-in and checkout were quick and hassle-free, and the king-size bed was just amazing. The sea view was really nice too. But if you can't sleep in a very noisy place, this hotel definitely isn't for you. Don't expect too much from the room.

The staff were incredibly kind and accommodating. After flight chaos left my two elderly parents stuck at Heathrow and unable to sleep for a day and a half, we arrived in Chania at 11am. Even though official check-in was at 3pm, the staff got us into our rooms at 12:30 and gave my exhausted parents cold water. The location is great, with a view of the port, and the old city is charming. You can't drive right up to the hotel, since the streets are too narrow for cars, so you have to walk. My single room was small but worked well for me, while my parents' double room was plenty big. The bathrooms are a little small.

We'd definitely stay again. The room was good, and the staff were friendly and helpful. You're one street back from the middle of the harbour. The cafe downstairs is fantastic for breakfast, with a charming host.
