Kastren Rooms

We got out as quickly as we could and found a wonderful alternative. Before leaving, we sent the landlord photos and tried to resolve the problems, but he was uncooperative and unwilling to meet his contractual obligations. The apartment looked nothing like the Booking.com photos. The bathroom was in very poor shape. Every shower seal and the curtain were faulty, there were coffee stains on one wall and dirt on the baseboards, and the shower head holder was loose. Water came from the shower head and faucet at once, leaving very little pressure. The kitchenette was dirty too. The refrigerator was iced up, its handle was missing, and old grime covered the seals. The cabinets were filthy, with only four flat plates inside. The chair and sofa cushions were stained and greasy, and the furniture felt rundown and made from very cheap materials. Light-colored blinds didn’t darken the room enough, and the plastic panel behind the bed was dusty.

Three stars, generously. The location was good, the room was clean, and communication with the host was good. But the hot water ran lukewarm or cold by the time two people showered at noon, and there wasn’t any hot water at night. You’ll need a sleep mask if you don’t want sunlight waking you at 7 a.m. There were only white roller blinds, with no shutters or darkening curtains.

It’s a small apartment, but the old town location in Chania is hard to beat. 🤩👍🏼
