Porto Vecchio

Parking around the old town is almost impossible. You can try street parking, but we eventually found a space about a 20-minute walk away. You might get lucky and find something closer. The nearby restaurants and bars also make for quite a bit of noise. We stayed on a Friday evening, so that may have made it louder, but it was manageable and didn’t stop us sleeping. The apartment was beautiful, with a jacuzzi on the balcony. Some instructions for using it would have helped if you’re unfamiliar with one. It’s centrally located in the old town, check-in was easy, and they were flexible about storing our luggage for a few hours.

The room was kept very clean and tidy during our vacation, and we were given some local treats. Mrs. Maria at reception was friendly, hospitable, and very helpful. The location is close to Chania’s old port. Definitely recommend!

George’s restaurant “Argo” is right outside the front door, and the food and welcome there were a nice bonus. Porto Vecchio is in one of the most interesting parts of the old town, close to everything, and the price felt very reasonable. You can’t drive into the old town, so arrange for a taxi to drop you nearby. Bring light luggage, as there are very few drawers, hangers, hooks, or closets. Maria and Kostas run a lovely boutique hotel. Communication and service were top notch, and our clean room had the necessities plus some delicious treats. The private outdoor jacuzzi was fabulous after long hikes around the old town and countryside. The bed was super comfortable, and it was very quiet at night, at least in late March.

My room was clean and comfortable, and the hosts were friendly and helpful. They left some snacks, which was a nice touch. The location in Chania’s Old Town is hard to beat. I stayed a few days last week and everything was perfect. I highly recommend Porto Vecchio if you’re planning a visit to Chania!
