Querini Luxury Suites

Maria made our stay so easy and comfortable. She welcomed us with juice, soda, water, bread, fresh fruit, and other snacks, then went over a local map of Chania and explained recommended restaurants, transport, travel agencies, excursions, and places to visit. She was warm and treated us like family visiting from out of town. Querini Luxury Suites is family-owned, and the spacious room, modern design, and amenities went well beyond what we expected, almost like a 5 star hotel. It's ideally placed in old town chania, a short walk from the harbor and lighthouse. There are thoughtful extras to use during your stay, including a beach umbrella, separate beach towels, a universal outlet adapter, an iron, a hair dryer, and slippers. I highly recommend it.

The only real plus was the location of Querini Luxury Suites, right in central Chania, a few minutes from the old port, with good municipal parking options. Everything else was a disaster. There was a strong sewage smell as soon as we entered, and with no bathroom door it spread through the whole apartment. We were afraid our clothes would absorb it, so we didn't unpack. The odor came back every time we used the sink or toilet. They tried pouring in some chlorine, but it barely helped. It was disgusting, and no one should have to sleep, eat, or breathe in those conditions. We tried to spend as much time outside as possible. Our point of contact was a true professional and did her best in a bad situation, but the property manager seemed completely uninterested in our wellbeing. The alternatives offered were laughable: a tiny 15sqm ground-floor room or a dog-themed hotel room. For what we paid, these felt like jokes. Eventually they offered a "superior suite" at a sister property for the final night, but by then we were out enjoying the day and weren't going to repack and rush around to solve their problem. For a place advertised as luxury, it had no oven or stovetop, a broken tub, and mood lighting that buzzed like a fly zapper. It felt like a forgotten relic from when someone still cared. Until this unit gets a serious gut renovation, don't be taken in by the photos or location. You deserve better.

Maria, the hotel ambassador, found us when we were having trouble locating Querini after arriving past 8 pm and led us there. The place is beautiful, with a little balcony over a narrow cobblestone street, a super comfortable bed, and a sleek modern bathroom. There were complimentary treats: local wine, traditional Greek sweet bread, crunchy sesame snacks, and a mini fridge stocked with water, Coke, club soda, and good local Greek beer. Maria was extremely helpful, gave us her number, and encouraged us to call if we needed anything. Excellent location, highly recommend.

Maria greeted us with a genuine smile even though we arrived late in the evening, and her kindness and help really stood out. The apartment was central, spacious, immaculate, tasteful, and thoughtfully laid out, with a tremendous outdoor lounge area. The fridge had complimentary beers, a large bottle of rosé, Cokes, fresh orange juice, sodas, and a huge bowl of assorted fruit, plus a massive Greek cake. We had a dream five-day stay. We're finishing our holiday at a much more expensive boutique hotel we've stayed in before, and it doesn't compare with Querini. Next time we'd choose to spend the whole holiday here.
