The Chania Hotel Crete, Vignette Collection by IHG

I liked the hotel a lot, and its location is brilliant in my opinion. It’s under a 10-minute walk to the charming Venetian harbour and two minutes from the main coach station. Since it’s just outside the hotel, getting there doesn’t involve dealing with narrow streets. My modern, stylish room had an exceptionally comfortable bed, a great shower and plenty of towels. Slippers, a bathrobe and complimentary items were provided as expected. The light and curtain controls are all electronic, which took a little getting used to. Service was very good, and they offered a welcome drink before check-in. I did have to sit and wait a little while for the room key, so check-in could have been more efficient. The gym was tiny and had little equipment. I didn’t have breakfast, and after seeing the buffet, I didn’t want to. There’s a nice coffee shop next door, or the old town is a short walk away. It wasn’t a perfect stay, especially given the wait and the points above. At a five-star hotel, expectations are naturally high, so I can’t give it 5/5.

The view was nice, and room service was professional. Nothing was missing, and none of my money went missing either. I left cash scattered around, but found it all in the same places later. The staff were respectful and understanding with my colleagues, who were a bit annoying and didn’t even speak English. They treated them with care and respect. This was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve had. I hope I can stay here on a future visit, because Chania really healed my soul.

The lobby has a really pleasant design, and the barista can make great coffee anytime. Try the Espresso Freddo, it became my favorite kind of coffee to drink here in Greece. The hotel itself is beautiful, with very friendly staff. Rooms are modern, cozy and kept very clean. The breakfast bar and restaurant serve delicious, high-quality food that you don’t want to miss. Definitely deserves at least five stars.

Demos made our stay feel personal from the beginning, always noticing what we might need and treating us with real warmth. Nadia was welcoming at breakfast, and Maximus at reception was consistently helpful and professional. The Chania Hotel was spotless, beautifully kept, and in a great spot for exploring Chania. We felt looked after as if we were with family, and would happily stay here again.
