Venetian Kamara in Old Town Chania

Be very cautious if you’re considering this house. We booked it through Expedia in April 2024 for June 2024. The house accepted, then cancelled later that day. Expedia apologized and said this can happen, so we accepted it and tried again, booking in January 2025. The hotel accepted that booking too, and at first we thought everything had gone smoothly. Two weeks later Efi contacted me to say the house wasn’t available and asked me to cancel. I assumed she wanted me to cancel so she’d appear blameless. I refused and contacted Expedia, who were very helpful. After speaking to Efi, they confirmed she wouldn’t honour the booking. She claimed I wouldn’t lose money, but that wasn’t true: the house was part of an Expedia package with flights, and I’d also booked travel extras separately. Cancelling the holiday would mean losing a considerable amount on the flights and extras. I believe Efi may cancel at any time if she finds a higher bidder, then try to make you responsible for cancelling.

The terrace had an amazing view, and the location was great for walking to the Venetian harbour, beach, restaurants, cafes and supermarkets. The house was spacious, spotless and well stocked. Everything from the sofa and beds to the mattress and kitchen utilities was top notch. We had a fabulous holiday.

We’ll definitely come back. The house had a lovely terrace view, it was clean and cosy, and the hostess was very friendly and hospitable. It’s the best house we’ve ever stayed in.

We had two relaxed weeks here. The decor was sophisticated, the location was amazing, and the roof terrace had a panoramic view.
