The villa was stunning, spacious and full of amenities, with breathtaking views and a lovely mix of authentic Cretan charm and modern luxury. We enjoyed the different spaces Nikos created throughout the home, and it’s clear he takes pride in it. The pool and hot tub were a great bonus, and we felt safe in the house and the surrounding area. Our only regret is not staying longer on this beautiful island. Nikos, thank you so much. We can’t wait to return to Verekinthos. Our host, Nikos, made the stay special. He personally showed us around and welcomed us with a fridge stocked with essentials and treats. He was kind, friendly and inviting, gave us excellent restaurant recommendations and itinerary ideas, and stayed available at any hour. During the stay, he brought us a home-cooked meal from his mother, fresh produce from his garden and the best bougatsa we had in Crete. He even lent us charger adapters after we brought the wrong ones.

Mr Nikos was a wonderful host, and we loved his beautiful villa. It was the most fantastic vacation ever. We’ll be back with the whole family. Thank you, Mr. Nikos!

The villa is tucked away in nature, private and peaceful. We saw bats, lizards and a Cretan Stone Marten, with stars and planets at night, and goats, bees, butterflies and swallows by day. The terrace and dining areas look out over the mountains and local goats, and there are plenty of comfortable spots to relax, including an outdoor sofa and beach cushions. Outside, there’s a great BBQ and an inviting pool with a cosy day-bed and loungers. The villa itself is stylish, comfortable and very well equipped: a cute kitchen with everything we needed, four beautiful bedrooms, three bathrooms, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a big TV with Netflix, a balcony and a couple of comfortable living areas. We’ve never stayed in a villa that anticipated our needs so well. It’s made up of three beautifully restored farmhouse buildings in the foothills of the stunning White Mountains. The host, Nikos, is what sets the experience apart. He’s kind, funny and generous with gifts and advice about things to do and places to eat. On arrival, there was a welcome pack with fresh fruit, wine, soft drinks, cupboard essentials and more. During the stay, Nikos brought delicious food: orange cake, spinach pies, stuffed vegetables, vine leaves and zucchini flowers made by his mother, plus hand-picked tomatoes and freshly baked cheese pies. Despite the quiet setting off the beaten track, several excellent tavernas are a short drive away. Dounias slow food was exceptional, and Chania is a fun 25-minute drive through the countryside. We also rode the villa’s bikes to Mavres vineyard for a delicious lunch and wine tasting. We had a perfect eight days. Watching sunrise or sunset from the terrace was magical every time, and Nikos helped make the whole stay wonderful. We’ll miss it and hope to come back soon. Couldn’t recommend Verekinthos Villas enough. If you’re thinking of staying here, you won’t regret it.

Nikos made us feel so welcome, and the welcome pack plus the food he brought over were delicious. We stayed at Verekinthos Villas in August and loved how peaceful it was. It’s tucked away enough to feel quiet and relaxing, but Chania is still easy to reach, and there are lovely restaurants about a 10 minute drive away. I can’t wait to return.

The owner was genuinely warm and checked in several times to see that we were comfortable and had what we needed. The villa is about 30 minutes from Chania, with roughly 20 minutes of that going up into the mountains. The views are stunning, and the area has a local feel without the tourist bustle. There’s a tiny market nearby for basics, vineyards, and restaurants another 15 minutes higher up with incredible views. A lovely place for a Crete holiday.
