Viaggio Elegant Rooms

We came to Crete in mid-October and were lucky with the timing. The weather was perfect, the sea on the north coast was warm, and the crowds were pleasant. You could feel the island winding down for the off season, with some places already closing. I can imagine how busy peak season gets, so I was glad to see Crete at this quieter point in the year. Our trip started beautifully at Viaggio Elegant Rooms. The location puts you near the lively parts of Old Town Chania, but the quiet, intimate alley keeps the room sheltered from the hubbub. We had plenty of space, and having freshly brewed coffee on the balcony as town woke up was a perfect start to our three lovely days. Katerina was gracious about arranging a late check-in. She also showed us where to unload our luggage if driving, then gave us maps for the public parking lots. One tip: avoid arriving on a Friday night, when the town fills with locals heading out to clubs and nightlife. Otherwise, there are plenty of public lots, many free, within a pleasant walk in any direction. The room was comfortable, the bathroom and water were just right, and even the complimentary soaps and shampoos were good quality. Everything was clean and well maintained, with supplies like coffee replenished every day. We liked getting Katerina’s suggestions and advice early in the day. After she left, the lobby was easy to come and go from with its key entry. This is a serene base in the middle of everything, whether you’re exploring the Old Town, visiting nearby wineries and botanical gardens, or going hiking. It’d also suit a romantic trip. You can feel close to everything while still having a peaceful place to retreat to. Highly recommend staying here. Thanks to Katerina and the crew for such a lovely place to escape.
