Michalis Villas

We only got to stay one night before our departure, which was a shame because the airport is so close and the apartment was lovely. It was spacious and extremely clean, and Michalis and his family were very helpful. If you enjoy vintage architecture and decor, it feels like stepping back into the 1960s. The pool was perfect, and there’s a lovely beach about three minutes away by car. Michalis also suggested Irene, a great taverna about the same drive away. We’re a family of five and next time we visit Crete, we’ll stay here for the whole trip. Truly recommend it, thanks!

The pool is super nice, a good place to rest after a long day out, and there are great views too. We stayed for 8 days and were very happy with the villa, which seems well suited to a longer visit. The two-bedroom houses work for five people, and the kitchen is equipped well enough for cooking your own meals. If you have a car, it’s close to Hania, about 25 minutes from the center, and there are lots of hiking spots nearby. The villa sits between two villages, with many restaurants to choose from. There’s a very good beach close by, two large supermarkets within an easy drive, and smaller shops nearby. It’s close to almost everything you need.

We’ve been coming to Villas Michalis for many years and love returning. Michalis and Aleka are welcoming and helpful, and the apartments are spotless and well equipped, though a little dated. The pool and gardens are well maintained, and the place is usually peaceful apart from the occasional plane overhead. Chania airport is only a 10-minute drive away, which is convenient. There are lots of friendly cats, lovely beaches nearby, and Irene’s tavern is a 10-minute walk away, serving traditional Greek food at reasonable prices. We recommend Villas Michalis and will be back.

Aleca made our stay at Villas Michalis so easy, nothing was too much trouble. We didn’t have a car, and she explained how to catch the bus to Chania. It’s worth waiting down the road about 10 minutes early, since the schedule is a bit irregular and the bus is more like a coach. We also had a taxi arranged for both trips to and from the apartment, and everything went smoothly. The pool was cleaned daily, and so was our apartment. The beach is a five-minute walk away, as are several shops and cafes in the village. There were plenty of provisions waiting for us, including water and Coca Cola, which was very welcome after a long journey. Our flight home was in the evening, and Aleca arranged for us to keep the apartment until we needed to leave. Such a wonderful place, we’d come again.
