City Marina Hotel

The staff were fantastic and incredibly helpful, which was the one redeeming part of our stay at City Marina Corfu. The hotel was clean, but felt very old and outdated, with no obvious modern renovations. Constant street noise made a good night's sleep difficult, sometimes impossible, and really affected my ability to rest and enjoy the vacation. With the lack of modernization and that level of noise, I can’t recommend the hotel despite the wonderful service.

We needed a place for one night after Albania because we had an early flight the next morning. The location was great, and the room had a very nice view and a small fridge, a big plus. The building is a bit old but fits in well in OLD town. Walking from the port with wheeled luggage is a bit far, though manageable. The service was great: they let us check in early and helped book a taxi to the airport. It was much better than expected!

The room was clean and the balcony view was nice, and the hotel is conveniently close to the city. But our six-night stay at City Marina Hotel in Corfu was quite disappointing. After a nine-hour journey, there wasn’t even a bottle of water in the room. The room cost €150 a night without breakfast, which felt overpriced. On arrival, the receptionists were very polite, but our balcony had no chair or table like the other rooms, so we had to ask for them. There was often an unpleasant smell from the nearby port. Lots of mosquitoes got into the room, and there was no plug-in repellent. The bathroom had no window, so airing it out meant opening the balcony door and letting in even more mosquitoes. There was no door sign to keep housekeeping out, and we were disturbed early one morning. The housekeeper came into the room twice without permission. When I asked her to leave, she later told my roommates I was “grumpy.” That was completely unacceptable.

The first room was okay apart from the bathroom, which wasn’t clean, and the toilet wouldn’t flush. Staff said someone would come fix it, but nobody did. After we raised the flush problem a second time, they gave us another room. That one had a nice sea-facing view.
