The location was a full 5/5. The hotel itself gets 3/5: it has plenty of character, like an eccentric uncle in bell bottoms insisting on playing ABBA at full volume. The lush, green grounds were lovely, but the pool felt like an abandoned Roman bathhouse and the loungers looked like they were recovering from a rough night. Our spacious, comfortable room earns 4.5/5, and the terrace was perfect for wine and philosophical debates. There wasn’t much storage, though, so we lived out of our suitcases. Service was also 4.5/5. The staff were friendly and helpful, especially at check-in, and politely smiled when we asked about complimentary chariot rides to the beach. Food was 2.5/5. Breakfast was an adventure: cold eggs, cheese pie that tasted as if it had been sitting out since the Peloponnesian War, and a buffet like a culinary wasteland. We skipped it for our last three days and went looking for food in the local village. The setting itself was spectacular, perched above shimmering turquoise water like a Greek god surveying their domain. Sadly, the toga wasn’t included in the room rate.

The room was nice, and the sea view was beautiful and very private. Service was friendly and helpful. Breakfast tasted good, but felt underwhelming for the premium price. Fresh orange juice, a roomier space and ideally a setup with a view would have made a big difference.

Elafonisos itself is tremendous, but I expected more for what I paid, and in my opinion this hotel should cost much less. The pool was relatively small and unheated, there weren’t enough drawers or wardrobe space, and the breakfast was far from representative. There was also no access to a beach where you could swim.

The good points were the location and common areas. But after a week, we had a long list of problems that made the place feel overpriced. Our room wasn’t clean. The bathroom smelled really bad, the mirrors were dirty, and there was residue all over the shower tiles. The AC was placed directly opposite the bed and blew straight onto our heads. After our second day, my wife developed many tiny bites in clusters around her body. When we got home, the doctor said they were flea bites, probably from the accommodation’s wooden bed. Unacceptable. The staff left our door open while cleaning, so flies got into the room. Breakfast was beyond disappointing: very limited choice, burned omelettes, cold scrambled eggs, no fresh orange juice, cold filter coffee and awful muffins. The staff didn’t refill the food often, and when we asked, they gave us dirty looks. We’d never go back. We hope caperi gets better after this review.

We can’t wait to return to this fabulous place. Capari Suites has modern, stylish rooms set in nature, with a magnificent view of the Peloponnese from Elafonisos. Our bed was spacious, the bathroom supplies like shampoo were replenished every day, and the slippers they gave us were very comfortable and stylish. Breakfast was plentiful and fresh, and the owners were extremely welcoming and kind. A magical place on a magical island!
