Right in the city center, the rooms are really nice and quiet. The hosts are lovely too.

When we arrived at Syros port, the owner told us by phone that there was no booking under our name and they were full. We'd reserved by phone on Thursday afternoon, 02/06, for a stay starting 04/06. The woman who took the call collected our contact details and said no deposit was needed since we would be arriving the next day. We trusted that, and that was a big mistake. We had chosen the hotel because it had an elevator, so we had to scramble to find somewhere else as soon as possible. Luckily it was low season and we managed. After that, we didn't trust their suggestion that we stay at another place until they could find something. Completely unprofessional to leave us without a room after taking the booking.

We'd planned to visit for Easter, but had to cancel because of the quarantine imposed by the government. We had paid a 240 euro deposit, and Mr.Fotis returned 237 euros because we don't have Alpha Bank. The three euros aren't the main point. When we spoke on the phone, he never said he'd deduct that amount. We were thinking of coming back in summer if things returned to normal, but the way he handled this felt sneaky, so that's not happening. He blamed me for not having an Alpha Bank account and for choosing to cancel, as if I had a choice. You've lost a customer over 3 euros. Very unprofessional.

The room was clean when I arrived, and the staff were helpful. Mine was on the third floor and had a great view. There are tasty restaurants, a market, bakery, and shops nearby, and the ferry port is about a 10-minute walk away. One small thing: the Google Maps pin is a bit off. Paradise hotel is roughly 200 feet nearer the port than the marker suggests, though you should spot the sign once you're close.
