The breakfast was lovely, served in an idyllic restaurant overlooking the beach, and the restaurant staff were very accommodating. Ioanna speaks perfect English. We got an amazing room upgrade, clean and spacious, with an ocean view. Diamanti and her husband Alexander were truly warm hosts, and the hotel delivered five star service despite being rated three stars. Kalamaki has beautiful beaches, and Matala is just a short drive away. A great place if you're after a quieter area.

We only stayed a short time, but we'll definitely come back to Alexander Beach. It was very clean and right on the beach, with friendly people. Highly recommend.

I couldn't find the cafe Alexandr on the maps. The coffee was the worst I've had, and we waited 20 minutes for dessert while our coffee went cold. Really bad.

Palm Beach is worth the trip, and the drive through olive groves, a gorge, and villages is beautiful. The road there is a mountain road and not very comfortable. It makes a good base for a moderate hike to Palm Beach, so bring your beach gear. There’s a taverna, but no loungers. Best plan: hike there in the morning and get back to Alexander Beach around lunchtime.

I phoned to book about a month before our dates. They didn't ask for prepayment. When I called on the day of the booking, I was told the owner had given our room to someone else.
