Keramos

Zaros was a great spot for a stop in the interior, with plenty of places for dinner and breakfast on the next street. This family-run place was in a convenient location, and the family were super nice. My room was well-kept, with a balcony and a kitchenette stocked with cooking equipment. There’s a dedicated parking lot down the alley, about 30 metres away. Breakfast is simple and costs €8 per person.

The owners were great and accommodating, and the rooms were clean. You’re right in the heart of town, with food and everything else close by. It’s also ideally placed for tackling the Rouvas Gorge.

What stood out was the breakfast buffet, which was excellent, and the price was hard to beat. The room was lovely, with a small balcony and a really comfortable bed, though it felt a little dated in places. A few details need attention: the shower holder was broken, so I had to use the hand shower. It’s a very traditional place, with flowers outside providing shade over a couple of small tables where you can relax after a hot day. Highly recommended if you’re staying in Zaros or just spending a night in the Cretan mountains.

Velina welcomed me so warmly, and Michalis, her husband, was just as kind and welcoming. The room was comfortable and clean, with a lovely balcony. The air conditioning worked very well, and the bathroom was well equipped and comfortable. Breakfast was all homemade, with both savory and sweet dishes and fruit salads, while still respecting Cretan food traditions. They have a great farm, and you can buy their products right inside the hotel. I wish I could give more than five stars. Thank you for taking such good care of me :) Alessandro from Italy
