The owners’ photos seem to show the house in its better days. When we arrived, it felt old, shabby, and dirty, and some of the furniture was rotten. It was overpriced for the condition, and the house wasn’t being run properly. I never met the owner, who only messaged over WhatsApp. We wanted to leave on day one, but he persuaded us to stay by promising a cleaning and a 50% discount, and was very friendly about it. The cleaning happened, but we never got the discount. After we left, he started ignoring our messages. I even think we left the place cleaner than we found it. It felt like a disappointing way to treat tourists. Those six days at Villa belladonna were the only bad part of our month in Crete. I wouldn’t return; there are better places with hosts who are more welcoming.

Great for a family with lots of kids, and still a good choice for others too. There’s a pool, ping pong, lovely decor, comfortable spaces, and all the equipment you need. Bravo.
