The apartment had a lot going for it: a basic kitchen that worked for us, a great spot close to the beach, and a very kind, friendly cleaner. But the owners' behaviour overshadowed all of that. They gave us a very old key. While I was turning it to lock the door, its ring came loose from the fob. We left the fob in the holder while we were out for 20 minutes, which we know we probably shouldn't have done, and we were very apologetic. Instead of treating it as an accident, the father and son came barging into our room and accused us aggressively of breaking it on purpose. The father kept shouting “they pay, they pay” and “no more English,” and the son had to physically restrain him. It was shocking. First they tried to charge €50, then made us pay €20. They were intrusive in other ways too: they entered without permission and criticized the room as “messy”. On our last morning, while I was changing, the son tried to open the door. I don't know why. Thankfully it was locked, because he would've walked straight in without knocking. At times it felt rude and unsafe. The owners sat outside the entrance every day watching guests come and go, which made us feel monitored and uncomfortable. The son was especially rude throughout. We left the room spotless, and he inspected it before I was allowed to leave, but found nothing to complain about. It's a shame, because the apartment has potential, but we were treated unacceptably. I feel bad leaving a negative review, but paying guests shouldn't be treated this way. Given how they reacted to other negative reviews, I expect an aggressive response to mine too, which would reflect the behaviour we experienced firsthand. Reviews on Booking.com and Google also show we're not the only ones who've had an issue with the son's behaviour. However good the location may be, respect and guest safety should come first, and we didn't get that here.
