Tivoli Hotel

The pool was good, and the cleaning staff were responsible and pleasant. Most of the other staff were friendly too, except the woman working at reception during the day. She dismissed us when we brought up our problems. We paid €60 a day after the mandatory extra charges, but the room lacked basics: cups, glasses, plates, a shower curtain, reliable Wi-Fi coverage, and a proper large bed. We'd asked for one, but got two twin beds pushed together that kept sliding apart while we slept. It's an okay place if you can't find anything else, though at this price I'd choose an Airbnb.

The staff's attitude made the stay particularly unpleasant. Some were discourteous, simple requests took too long, and I didn't feel they cared much about my comfort. The room wasn't clean enough when I arrived, and the bathroom wasn't properly equipped, which left me uncomfortable from the start. I felt uneasy throughout the visit and wouldn't return or recommend the hotel. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves the service.

The pool was nice, but I wouldn't come back. We booked two rooms and only one had air conditioning. The door locks felt unreliable, the Wi-Fi was slow at just 1mb download and upload, and the paint was peeling off the poles. Drinks cost about twice what they did where we went last year. We asked to move, but there were no other rooms available. There's also no path to the high street. Left feeling a bit disappointed.

The bugs were everywhere. After one night, I counted 32 bites just on my arms, and cleaning was basically nonexistent. The hotel felt old, dirty, and badly kept, but the owner's attitude was the worst part. In the scorching Rhodos heat, I went down after checking in to ask for the AC remote. He said, without hesitation, “You have to pay for it. 8 euros per night,” then added, “you have to pay for everything. What do you think this is? Finland? Norway? Oh Denmark… Yeah this is not Denmark.” It was bought as part of a package, so I hadn't picked the hotel myself. The many negative reviews make sense after that experience. Don't ruin your holiday here, stay away.
