Agali Houses

Cheerful staff, caring and efficient service, good food, and a stunning view. I'd definitely stay at Agali Houses again if I visit Santorini.

The staff were all really nice, and the hotel itself is cute, though I ended up feeling it was expensive for what we got. We came during very windy weather, so we didn't get to enjoy the property much. In summer, if you spend your days at the pool, it may feel like better value. There are quite a few steps to reach it, as is true of many places here. Fira's bus station is about a 17-minute walk away and mostly serves the Fira to Oia route, so if you're relying on the bus a lot, staying in one of those towns may suit you better. Breakfast costs 18 euros per person per day. We're not big breakfast eaters, so we just got coffee at a local place around the corner. Our room had a boiler that needed to be switched on ahead of time for hot water, and sometimes we still got cold showers. The double twin rooms have a less appealing deck than the combined rooms, so we chose the combined one.

Be ready for lots of stairs between the street and your room, which seems common around Santorini. They do have someone carry your bags when you arrive and leave, and we really appreciated the help. We stayed in the Honeymoon suite with a private hot tub overlooking the ocean, and the views were amazing. The hotel has a nice pool and bar, and the staff were friendly and helped us arrange tours and choose things to do. Great location and service. Highly recommended.

The stairs are worth knowing about. Agali Houses sits well below the street, which gives the rooms a lot of privacy. We barely saw anyone passing our room or walking around the property, unlike at some other island hotels where there's heavy foot traffic outside your door. A staff member met our transfer and carried our heavy bags all the way down alone, which we really appreciated. We had an Executive Room with a Caldera view for two nights. It was spacious, clean, and beautifully designed, with a private patio where we had dinner one evening and watched the sunset. The view was stunning. After long days of walking in the sun, we loved relaxing by the clean pool. The bartender was attentive, and the view from the deck was unbeatable. Shops and restaurants are nearby, and Oia is a short drive away, or you can hike the lovely path there. Service was great from the start. We got a detailed explanation of the room, and someone was always available when we needed anything. I'd recommend Agali Houses to anyone considering it.
