Blue Sky Hotel & Spa

The beds were very comfortable, the town was just a quick three-minute walk away, and it was excellent value for money. We visited in May, so the pool was a little chilly. Both rooms we stayed in had lovely ensuite bathrooms and balconies where we could watch the sunset, though it was a little to the right. Beautiful hotel.

The room was dirty, especially the bathroom, which still had hair from previous guests. The towels were damp, smelly, worn out, and fraying, and one pillow was damp too. With mosquitoes in the room, a plug sticking out of the wall near our heads, and doors with large glass panels but no curtains, it was hard to sleep in the morning. We ended up hanging the smelly towels as makeshift curtains. The room opened straight onto the pool, and gaps around the door let in all the outside noise. We had booked Lignos Hotel, but found a handwritten note on its door telling us to check in at Blue Sky, where we were told to stay. We had reserved a double bed months ahead, yet were put in a twin room, supposedly because they had no rooms left. The worst hotel we've ever stayed in. Stay away.

Blue Sky is well located and not very expensive, but I barely got to enjoy it. My wife and I booked three nights for our honeymoon, which made the stay especially important to us. We emailed twice before arriving to say our flight meant we'd be late, but nobody replied. At midnight on arrival, there was no room for us, so they arranged a transfer to another hotel. I was angry, especially with the stress and lack of communication. The other hotel was really nice and included breakfast, which we wouldn't have had at Blue Sky, though it was about a 15-minute walk from the city center. On the third and final night, I went to that hotel's concierge for some ordinary information and found out we were supposed to check out and move to Blue Sky. Nobody had told me beforehand. We had to ask Blue Sky to send its transfer, then check in there. When I complained to their concierge, they seemed to think we had no reason to be upset because they said they'd put us in a 'better hotel.' We had spent the first two nights walking 15 minutes in the sun every time we went to the city, and then had to change hotels on our last day. Finding out by accident delayed all my plans for that day on the island. It was super inconvenient.

The rooms are in poor shape, and the street is really loud. The shower head was broken, and I found bugs in my breakfast jelly. We'd booked Lignos originally but were diverted here, to what seemed like a cheaper hotel. The receptionist refused to match the Blue Sky Villa price I found online. She said she'd sold all the cheap rooms just two minutes earlier, even though I showed her I could still book one online for less. We'd travelled all day and it was late, so we reluctantly stayed.
