Milos Villas Hotel

This isn't a four-star hotel. At best, I'd call it a low-level three-star place. The general infrastructure is old. Electrical cables are visible and sticking out, there's humidity on the walls, and the breakfast area, which is also the restaurant, is small and poorly ventilated. They cook there at night, and with the air conditioning on in the morning, breakfast comes with the smell of the previous night's dinner. Breakfast was practically nothing. I asked for gluten-free food, but they had none. The bathroom in the superior suite is small, with nowhere to put toiletries. Some rooms are upstairs, and there's nobody to help carry the suitcases. I asked for a large bed and was told I had to call them directly to request one again. I ended up with two single beds. When I arrived, the room I was given was a basement room facing the road outside the hotel. I complained and was moved to the superior suite, which still wasn't... this is just a very basic review. There are other things. The hotel is about a 30-minute uphill walk to Fira, or 14 minutes going downhill. The sea view faces the less attractive side of the island. Don't book here. There are nicer hotels in a nicer area, where you can at least walk out and find lots of coffee shops. The water isn't drinkable. You arrive after walking up the stairs with your suitcases in 30°C heat, and there's no water waiting for you. This supposedly four-star hotel doesn't provide complimentary water. You also have to put used toilet paper in a bin because a sign says not to flush it. It's bad, a really bad hotel. If you booked a four-star place and expect the usual four-star standard, don't book this one. One last thing that matters: there are no blinds. The yellow curtains are translucent, so the first sunlight will wake you up. No blackout curtains.
