Perla Nera Suites

The Grand Suite made our 20th wedding anniversary trip. It was huge, with a spacious outdoor area, plenty of room to sunbathe, and a lovely private pool that gets sun until around 5pm. The water was a bit nippy, but once you got in, it was great. Inside, there was loads of space, an open cave shower in one bathroom, and a second bathroom with a hot tub in the bedroom. We happily spent seven nights here, and it was easy to stay in for a whole day when we were tired of sightseeing or feeling lazy. We picked Perla Nera Suites after a lot of research because we wanted privacy and somewhere a taxi, transfer, or hire car could pull up to, so we could walk straight in. It's far enough from Fira centre to feel away from it, but still an easy walk. There is some road noise outside, as other reviews mention, but we knew that when booking and felt the privacy and quality of the accommodation were worth it. We brought some music and hardly noticed it. The staff were lovely, polite, friendly, and extremely helpful, especially Mary. Breakfast was plentiful and lovely every morning. I only found out when leaving that checkout is at 12, and if you have a long wait for your flight, you can store your bags and use a private shower with fresh towels before you go. We'd have no hesitation recommending the place, and will 100% choose it again when we're back in Santorini.

The room was clean, with a sea view, and was tidied very well every day. We were told our original room's air conditioning wasn't working, so we got a small upgrade. It's about a 15-minute walk to Fira, though it's uphill, so bear that in mind in summer. There's a place to park across from the hotel. They bring breakfast to your room each morning, but ours wasn't prepared for the day we were leaving early, even though they were supposed to bring it the previous afternoon. Still, the service was friendly and the location was good. We had a good stay.

The suite faces east and has an ocean view. You get more privacy here, though the view isn't as stunning as the one from the cliff.

What really stood out was the service. We had a late flight, and even after checkout they let us back in to take a shower. The room was very big and had everything we needed, and the breakfast served in the bedroom was really good too. I'll always stay with them when I'm in Santorini.
