Maria and the staff were lovely, and we had a really nice stay in June. Our room was basic but very clean. We enjoyed breakfast, and the service was great. I’m sorry I’ve forgotten the name of the woman who served us meals and at the bar, but she was lovely too. The pool was nice, with comfortable loungers, and the location was great for the beach and restaurants. We’d definitely return.

The location couldn’t be better, about 200 metres from the beach and close to restaurants. It’s a lovely little complex with amazing staff. The room was very basic, and my main niggle was that towels and bedding were changed only once during the week. The pool area was small, so we ended up going to the beach almost every day.

Savas was the star for us. He helped with our late night check-in and was around every afternoon, always friendly and great to chat with. He had superb local tips and knew his stuff. All the staff were terrific, really, and Maria and her team were brilliant. Breakfast was good quality and came out quickly. We stayed for ten nights in straightforward, three-star accommodation, and it was just right. The rooms were a good size with comfortable, proper mattress beds, no sofa beds or camping beds, which was a bonus for four of us sharing a room. The pool’s small but suits the size of the hotel. Even with nine or ten kids playing, it never felt too packed. It’s easy to walk to the main strip in Kato Gouves, and the beach and shops are even closer. The main road is about a 15-minute walk, with excellent bus services to places like Heraklion, Agios Nikolaus, and Hersonissos.

If you don’t need much, this is an ideal place to stay. The staff were very nice and helpful, the pool was clean, and the sunbeds were comfortable. Bring your own towels. Housekeeping was great, and the room had a fridge and kettle. It’s a small, pleasant, very quiet hotel, mostly for older guests, many of them English. Some rooms are nice, but a few are very small. The bathrooms can be especially impractical, with no shelves for toiletries, very few hooks, and water all over the floor after a shower. It’s a short walk to the sea in a peaceful area, unless the neighbours’ dog barks all night. Breakfast had a good choice, including a proper English breakfast, but very little fruit: melon or watermelon, and once a sour pineapple. With so much fruit growing in the country, I expected more variety. Coffee was instant, with black tea as the other option.
