The Island - Adults Only

We were only two days into our stay when I first wrote this, and I was really enjoying how unique the hotel was. Now that we're home, here's my updated review. There isn't much evening entertainment if you stay at the hotel. The DJ plays some nights, but there's nowhere to dance. We reported three times that the glass toilet door made an awful noise when opening and closing because it was catching on something. We were told nothing was wrong. I took a video of the door and the small shards of glass to reception, and they soon paid attention and repaired it. We booked a massage, but they changed the time to fit other people in, moving our appointment. The spa manager was rude and kept smirking at us. The couples massage itself was lovely, and we left the staff a tip since it was their fault. I couldn't bring myself to speak to the spa manager on the way out, but it turned out she'd given us a 20% discount. 3

I travelled with three others, and it was a terrible experience. The rooms and elevator were outdated, and there were bugs in the lights. When we arrived, nobody really welcomed us. They just asked us to copy our passports. One person in our group then had to wait two hours for his room because it wasn't ready, dragging his luggage around the whole time. The rooms were small. We paid for sea views, but only one had a genuine sea view. The other two faced the pool or garden. They also hadn't set up one of our keycards, so after leaving the room we couldn't get back in. We waited 30 minutes, soaked from the sea, before getting in and having a proper shower. Dinner wasn't good on most days, so we ate out a lot. If we didn't go to breakfast first thing, the food was cold. The hotel is said to be 5*, but I can't see it being more than a 2 or 3. The first day was miserable and I regret going. In the afternoon the pool DJ played the same EDM you'd expect at a nightclub while people were trying to read or swim casually. The location was the one saving grace, with gorgeous views when we left our rooms. And the cats were cute.

The staff were so friendly and professional, always ready to help with a smile. The lady in the hotel shop deserves a special mention. She was warm and welcoming, simply amazing. The whole complex is spotless and well maintained, with quiet corners to relax in. It feels calm and elegant, a great fit for couples or anyone wanting a peaceful escape. The Bali-inspired design is stunning and makes you feel like you're in paradise 🌴✨. There are several pools with relaxing spa zones, so it's easy to find somewhere to unwind. The restaurants offered excellent variety, and every meal was a pleasure. Live music in the evenings added a lovely atmosphere 🎶. We couldn't imagine a better holiday spot on Crete. Everything went beyond our expectations, and we'll definitely return. Highly recommended for a relaxing getaway 🌊🌸.

Being by the sea was great, and there was a selection of beds on the beach. There are plenty of pools, with bars nearby for a cocktail or pint around midday. The entertainment was good, though the daytime pool DJ was possibly too loud and didn't seem to find the right songs for that time of day. It got in the way of relaxing, and at times I had to put in earphones.
