Villa Marie Kelly

Alex, the evening bartender, was the highlight of our holiday. He chatted with us, gave us tips on places to go, and remembered what we liked. All the staff were helpful, and the rooms were spotless with no faults we could find. Cleaners came every day if we wanted, and were fine with it if we turned them away. We had a great time as a couple and would recommend it to people of any age. For us, it was a 10/10 stay just before peak season.

We spent a week here at the end of April on a Jet2 package holiday. The Villa Marie Kelly is well placed for excursions, with lots of options that pick up and drop off at the apartments, and the area itself is lovely. The picturesque beach is only a short walk away and was almost empty during our visit, though I imagine it gets packed in peak season. Our top-floor apartment in the rearmost block was clean, nicely presented and had great facilities. The balcony had seating and a sea view, which we made good use of. We were pleasantly surprised to find a toasted sandwich maker. We didn't need the aircon, but reception can arrange it for a charge. There's also a room safe available for a small fee through reception. Transfers were quick, with drop-off a short walk from the apartments, and check-in was just as efficient. The team were welcoming and helpful. One thing to plan for: the tourist tax at check-in has to be paid in cash, as they don't take cards. The pool and bar area is fantastic, with lots of drinks and indoor and outdoor seating. You can even sit at the bar and have a cigarette. Breakfast in the bar/restaurant was very nice, made with fresh local ingredients and brought out quickly by friendly, efficient staff. Try the Greek coffee! There are a couple of supermarkets within walking distance. Since it was the start of the season in Crete, one was closed and the other had limited stock at first, though it gradually got more in over the week. When we arrived, the only thing available as "butter" was a small tub of margarine. The Lurpak showed up just before we left, which was frustrating. They did have a good selection of fresh local produce and familiar foreign staples like pot noodles and Heinz. I'd highly recommend the Villa Marie Kelly. The facilities and team are fantastic.

I got back last week after an amazing holiday. Travelling on my own, I was treated with care and respect by all the staff. The rooms were cleaned every day, and the cleaners were cheerful and helpful. The pool area was kept tidy and clean too. Karolina from the bar was friendly and welcoming, and Natalie made delicious food. Alex on the night bar shift helped make the whole holiday feel special.

The pool is a good size, though it fills up early. Our studio was clean and had the equipment we needed, but felt a bit small. The complex itself is tidy and well cared for, with a spacious reception and bar that appears to offer plenty of drinks, cocktails and food. I'd recommend these apartments for a quieter holiday.
