We used to come back for the children’s activities, and on our two earlier stays they were plentiful. This time, though, nothing had places left when we arrived. Another family said they had booked eight months ahead and still ended up on waiting lists. Planning that far in advance feels impractical at this price. We were travelling as two families, but got separate restaurant bookings, including some very late dinners, so sharing meals was difficult. Three of our seven nights were booked at the Asian restaurant. We’d hoped for more Greek food while visiting Greece, so that was disappointing. A lot of things were already full when we arrived. The staff did try to help with bookings and activities, but only after we asked repeatedly and raised our concerns. For what the resort costs, that level of service doesn’t feel adequate. It’s a shame that somewhere we once felt relaxed and comfortable became stressful, with us worrying about whether the children, or we ourselves, could enjoy the stay. The resort is beautiful, and we’d stayed here twice before when everything was wonderful, from the friendly staff and excellent restaurants to the activities for kids.

We’ve stayed at Asterias a couple of times and at Porto Sani too. Our 2024 visit to Asterias was superb, which made the summer 2025 stay all the more disappointing. The resort feels much busier and more built up now. Several new Asterias properties have private pools, but guests still came to the main pool. On several days we couldn’t get a lounger, which feels unacceptable for Sani’s most expensive, supposedly exclusive option. We came for the service and quieter atmosphere before, and that’s no longer what we found. One staff member openly said there’d been a miscalculation about the extra development, based on the assumption that residents would use their own pools. We asked months ahead for the same room as the year before, expecting that as returning guests it would be straightforward, but it wasn’t. We also didn’t receive the arrival room upgrade promised by the “Black tier” of the loyalty programme, which I’d been upgraded to before this visit. There were problems in the room throughout our stay. The shower valve seized, making it impossible at times to adjust the temperature. We asked several times, but it was never properly fixed. The shower enclosure leaked and flooded the bathroom more than once. After maintenance visits that didn’t resolve it, we were eventually told honestly that it was a design fault affecting many rooms and would be fixed in the future. At this price, that’s not acceptable, and they should have been upfront from the start. We were served different wine vintages from the ones listed. If a bottle costs €250 or more, it should match the wine list. The kids “babe watch” beach service, where staff made sandcastles and played in the sand with the children while parents watched from loungers, was also unavailable for three of our ten days, even though it was running at the other Sani resorts. We’ve had memorable stays and happy times at Sani, and I’d have liked to keep coming every year. These problems really let us down this time, and it pains me to say so.

The spa was amazing, and I had the best massage I’ve ever had with Eva. The hotel’s white sandy beaches are beautiful and peaceful, and the restaurants offer excellent quality and choice. The reception area has a glorious design, and the reception staff are excellent too. Everyone working here was amazing. Sani Asterias hotel is on another level, with a first class experience overall.

Great hotel and service. For this price, though, the property should have its own gym. Using the gym at another property doesn’t work.

The views, setting, staff and restaurants are among the best I’ve experienced, and this is the holiday hotel I rate highest. Management is top class, and the staff are some of the happiest, friendliest people I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. My husband and I keep being drawn back year after year. The hotel and the resort it sits in feel unique, and I can’t find fault with the place. We never tire of it.
