Minos Beach Art Hotel, a Member of Design Hotels

The property is breathtaking, beautifully maintained, and has such a relaxing, special atmosphere. My husband and I had an amazing honeymoon at Minos Beach Art Hotel, and it was one of our favorite trips ever. The food was all amazing! The staff were incredibly kind and hospitable, and you can tell they care about the experience guests leave with. Everyone was wonderful, with special thanks to Manos, Despina, Kosta, Michalis, & Gabriella. When there was a problem with our boat ride booking, the Experience Manager was kind and helpful, sorted it out immediately, and left a bottle of champagne in our room afterward.

The bungalows sit right by the water, and the art around the property gives the place a timeless feel. It was a calm, understated kind of luxury, with no unnecessary fuss. We had a beautiful weekend at Minos Beach Art Hotel, one of our most authentic experiences in Crete. You feel close to the real Crete here, rather than tucked into a typical resort. Perfect if you’re after privacy, elegance, and a sense of place. We were already thinking about coming back before we left.

Breakfast was a whole event, with plenty of fresh, varied options, and the Mediterranean food felt healthy even when we ate a lot. Across the five restaurants, the food was a quiet highlight. I’m a doctor and track my health with wearables, so I noticed something unexpected during our week at Minos Beach Art Hotel in Creta. My watch measures AGEs, Advanced Glycation End-products, a marker linked to aging and metabolic stress. At home my reading had stayed around 400 despite lifestyle changes. Here, with food rich in olive oil, whole grains, and simple Mediterranean dishes, it fell to 380 over seven days. I can’t say I expected that. The rooms were clean and solidly built, and the service felt naturally warm and attentive. People smiled, noticed things, and remembered our names from the first days. For me, staying here felt almost like a treatment for body and mind, a chance to rest and recalibrate. I’ll be back.

The good parts were Kafenion Adeste, where dinner was amazing, especially the juicy, flavorful pork and chicken skewers and fresh pasta. The breakfast buffet was wonderful too, with lots of options that shifted a little each day. The resort has a beautiful oceanfront setting on Crete’s east side, and the protected lagoon is peaceful. Our room was simply furnished but nice. Still, for a five-star place, service didn’t feel up to standard. We had to ask more than once for things, and sometimes people hurried us, while other times we waited for someone to come by. Dinner à la carte at the main restaurant was slow, with tiny portions and poor service. The meal was okay, nothing special, and food and drink prices felt ridiculous for what you got. We also had no hot water on the first day. It was fixed right away, but I’d already had a cold shower. The couch was uncomfortable, and there was no smart TV for streaming shows.
