Hilltop Hotel

I spent ten days here and came away very impressed. It was quiet and exceptionally clean, better than I expected. There’s free parking and breakfast is included, which turned out to be surprisingly good. The location is another big plus: the center of Hanioti is only a 5-10 minute walk away, with grocery stores, a gas station, and souvenir shops nearby. I highly recommend the hotel.

The staff were a big part of what made our stay nice. The hotel is run by a family that owns 2 hotels in Chaniotis, and they were warm, helpful, spoke English, and never seemed to treat anyone badly. The girls at the bar often had friendly chats with guests. I like it when staff seem interested in people rather than acting like robots. Of course everyone gets tired, but I have a lot of respect for the work they do. My mother and I picked Hilltop at random from two options, for my birthday. It was our first time in Greece, and we were a bit unsure what to expect from the reviews. I wanted a spacious pool where people wouldn’t be crammed together, and we worried a hotel in town might be noisy. We chose the one on the hill and weren’t disappointed. The grounds are large, with no other hotels nearby, just villas below to the left. Music played, but we couldn’t hear it even with the balcony door open. There’s a swimming pool, parking, playground, table tennis, golf, and giant chess. We didn’t use the parking, but it looked fairly large. The pool has a children’s section at 0.60 m and an adult section from 0.90-1.44 m. I prefer deeper water, but it was fine for relaxing and swimming after the sea. I only wish it stayed open later than 8:30pm. I would’ve loved a swim at 11pm with the colored lights, but it wasn’t a big deal. Our room was on the 2nd floor, cozy, and had a view of the mountains, town, and sea. It was clean and bright, and some rooms have balconies. The room came with a shower, toilet, toiletries, hair dryer, balcony, vanity table, safe, ironing board, and iron. For a 3-star hotel, I didn’t expect a safe and iron, as those aren’t typical in our country. Cleaning can be done every day if needed. The ground-floor buffet serves 5 dishes that change daily, plus fruit, bread, tasty cheese, and cold cuts. Some people might find the choice small, but it was enough for us. The lobby is spacious, with a bar for food and drinks. The restaurant serves breakfast and dinner, and you can order other dishes separately; there’s also a poolside bar serving food and drinks. Prices were good. Some items cost less or more in town restaurants, but if you don’t feel like going into town for dinner, the hotel food will do. It was the first time I’d seen a hotel serve pizza that was both large and tasty. The coffee was great too. The alcoholic drinks seemed a little expensive, but tasted good. We ate our fill for a fairly reasonable price. It’s a 10-15 minute brisk walk to the sea, and the nearest shop is 5 minutes away. Reviews made it sound like everything was farther, so we’d worried about the walk, but it was quicker and closer than expected. Good luck and prosperity to your hotel!

The view and cleanliness were good, but breakfast didn’t offer much variety. We also found some small personal items missing from the room. It wasn’t a tragedy to lose body oil and a toy we’d planned to take home for our child, and we wouldn’t make a fuss over it, but it still isn’t the service you expect. I’m from Georgia, which isn’t in the European Union, and I’ve never lost even a tiny item at a hotel there. It’s a shame this happened here. Small things can go missing, of course, but we didn’t expect it in a European country. Update: Calling the items “forgotten” is a convenient excuse. We’d already noticed they were missing in the previous few days and checked everything carefully several times before leaving, including the safe, even though we hadn’t put anything in it. The offer to ship them for 150 is ridiculous. Nobody would want a few small items sent at that price.

We liked it so much that we added one more night to our stay. HillTop Hotel 🌿✨ in Hanioti, Halkidiki is clean, cozy, and tucked into a peaceful area that’s great for a relaxing holiday. The staff are kind and always smiling, which made it all the more pleasant. We’d happily come back and highly recommend it! 🏖️💙
