Domus Ariadne

Giannis was a wonderful host. When we ran into flight trouble, he helped us through each step until we arrived safely in Crete. I stayed three nights at Domus Ariadne with my mom for a Heraklion holiday. The room was quiet and clean, all the furniture was new, and restaurants and nice bars were nearby.

No complaints from me. The room had a good layout and just the right amount of space, with air conditioning for the hot, humid nights, welcome coffee and water, and a modern new bathroom. We didn’t hear any noise or other guests, though maybe we happened to be alone. There’s a cute indoor terrace where you can sit with a drink and relax.

The rooms were nicely furnished, with plenty of storage, a fridge, and comfortable beds. There’s also a sheltered shared courtyard with chairs and umbrellas. It’s only a few minutes into town and about a 15-minute walk from the port. The hotel is modern and stylish, close to the Heraklion Archeological Museum and the old town. We had the ground-floor, front-facing Grigio suite. My partner is sensitive to noise and could hear guests in the hallway and the front door opening and closing often. A rug in the main hallway, a soft-close front door, or thicker, better soundproofed room doors might help. I mentioned it to Giannis, who responded and apologized, though I understand there wasn’t much they could do. Rooms farther from the entrance may be quieter.

Giannis was welcoming and helpful during our five-night visit. The room was very comfortable, with tea and coffee and a bar fridge. It’s in a fantastic spot, convenient for the port, bus station, museum, and lively old town.
